Can police hold me for days without taking me to court?
No. You must be brought before a court within 24 hours, or by the end of the next court day if that time ends outside court hours.
Article 49 requires an arrested person to be brought to court as soon as reasonably possible and not later than 24 hours after arrest. If the 24 hours end outside court hours or on a non-court day, the limit is the end of the next court day. At that appearance you must be charged, told why detention continues, or released. A law may limit these rights for members of the defence forces and police (Article 24).
